Job Description
This position serves as on-site monitor while the Student Center is open. Students will be hired to cover hours outside normal business hours. This position helps facilitate activities within the Student Center, respond to maintenance and emergency situations, offer A/V support, and facilitate equipment oversite and check-out.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the physical setup and breakdown of events, ensuring spaces are prepared, welcoming, and compliant with accessibility requirements
- Greet patrons and provide presence and visibility while in Student Center
- Ensure Student Center patrons are following Beacon College visitor policies
- Conduct walks around building ensuring equipment and facilities are in good working order
- Report any issues with equipment, facilities, and patrons to a professional staff member
- Track patron attendance
- Provide A/V and event support, as needed
- Contact Campus Safety to open and/or close the building at beginning/end of shift
- Reset Student Center furniture and equipment throughout and at end of shift
- Periodically clean and maintain facilities
- Facilitate reasonable needs of patrons, as necessary
- Manage individual and inter/intrapersonal conflict
Skills and Qualifications
- Be enrolled as a full-time student at Beacon College (12 or more credit hours)
- Must be in good academic and judicial/conduct standing
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
- Have a passion for event management, customer service, and teamwork
- Possess the ability to follow directions with minimal supervision and direction
- Have strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- A willingness to improve skills and learn from the experience
- A willingness to work with anyone, including peers, faculty and staff, and Student Center patrons
