A College You Can Call Home

Whether you struggled in a traditional school environment or just needed a different kind of challenge, you are not alone. Many Beacon College undergraduates have diverse and nontraditional educational histories, and you will find a welcome home in our community.

Like everything we do at Beacon, our Office of Admissions takes a highly personalized approach to evaluating your candidacy for admission. Your application is more than a transcript or a diagnosis to us — we look at each student’s persistence, intelligence, maturity, and potential for growth.

Application Requirements for Homeschooled Students

Homeschooled students can complete their application online through Beacon’s application portal or the CommonApp. In order to evaluate your application for admission, the Office of Admissions will require:

  • A Recent Psycho-educational Evaluation: Must provide clear evidence of a specific learning disability and/or ADHD. The date of the report must be less than three years from the current date.
  • Official Transcripts: Homeschool, as well as any high school or college attended.
  • Copy of Declaration of Intent to Homeschool: As filed with your local Board of Education.
  • Proof of Completion of High School: Please submit one of the following:
    • Letter from primary teacher certifying high school completion and date of graduation
    • Official General Education Diploma (GED)
    • Standard diploma from a local high school

Homeschooled students who learn differently often don’t have access to expert college counseling services — or they may benefit from additional transition planning for the social and emotional demands of on-campus life.
