Welcome to Leesburg!

We’re happy to call Leesburg HOME! Located about 50 miles northwest of Orlando, Central Florida is one of the most beautiful, versatile, and popular vacation destinations in the state. It is an area of unmatched natural beauty and old Florida charm, all within minutes of the theme park thrills of nearby Orlando and Tampa and the glorious sands of both coasts. The climate averages an annual temperature of 72 degrees with ever-present sunny skies.

Known for its outdoor activities and wildlife, our area has more than 550 freshwater lakes, making it an ideal spot for fishermen, boaters, water skiers, bicyclists, hikers, bird watchers, and nature enthusiasts. Leesburg has devoted 15% of its land area to parks and recreational activities. Nearby, there are tennis and racquetball courts, biking paths, ball fields, picnic areas with pavilions, and jogging trails. Exciting activities and events where students explore our community are routinely planned throughout student life.

Situated in a downtown setting, Main Street in Leesburg offers quaint restaurants, gift shops, antique stores, an extensive public library, and other unique local businesses.

Cultural enrichment can be found through Central Florida and Lake County. With a strong appreciation for local arts, community events and theater productions are routinely sponsored in nearby Mount Dora, Eustis, Clermont, Lady Lake, and Leesburg. Additional local activities include movie theaters, fitness clubs, restaurants, art galleries, and museums.

With Orlando about an hour’s drive from campus, the area’s biggest tourist attractions include Walt Disney World (44 miles), Sea World (42 miles), Universal Studios (44 miles), Kennedy Space Center (60 miles), Legoland (90 miles), and Daytona Beach (69 miles). Additionally, beach trips are nearby — both Florida’s Atlantic and Gulf Coasts are only about an hour’s drive away.

With the majority of our students attending Beacon from out of state, the Orlando International Airport (MCO) is roughly an hour’s drive from campus. During holiday breaks, our transportation service offers bus schedules to the airport and the Brightline train terminal.
