male student with Beacon College president It is with great pride that we announce that senior Andrew Field is the first Beacon student to be accepted into the Disney College Program! This paid internship will provide Andrew with beneficial work experience that will assist him in his future professional development and could even lead to a management position with Disney.

The Disney College Program is an intensive and immersive experience. Participants live on campus, work full-time at one of the parks, and have the option of attending college level courses as well as professional development workshops. Students have roommates in apartment style housing, and Disney provides transportation around the area and to the parks for work, training, and classes. Accommodations mirror college living, with a study hall, classrooms, and a library being provided to students. A broad selection of course options are available, all of which are recommended for academic credit by the American Council on Education. They range in topic from Advanced Studies in Hospitality Management to Corporate Communications to Marketing You: Personal and Career Development Strategies.

Students from around the United States and abroad apply to this program every year, knowing that acceptance will open many doors professionally. It provides a great opportunity to network and to learn new career skills. Upon completion of the program and graduation from college, enrollees in the program are given the option of returning for a management track.

Andrew is excited for this new opportunity, saying, “I feel this is going to benefit me and the College male college student because if I do a good job in the program, Disney will be more likely to accept Beacon students in the future. I am excited for this opportunity and to be the first student from Beacon to be part of it.”

Andrew will begin his internship in January 2015 and return to Beacon to complete degree requirements for a projected graduation date of December 2015. We know that Andrew will benefit immensely from this program, and we expect he will make the College look great when he does an incredible job!
