2020’s unusually active tropical storm season continues to keep the Beacon Critical Response team busy.

As we normally do, the CRT has been monitoring Tropical Storm Eta, whose meandering path now includes the Central Florida region.

Lake County now is under a tropical storm warning, meaning that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 24 hours.

What precisely that means for the Beacon College community, according to the latest information from national and local meteorologists, is this: low to medium odds of possibly two to four inches of rain over the next couple of days, with winds gusting to 45-55 mph.

The good news, weather forecasters indicate, is that Tropical Storm Eta is expected to move in and move out fairly quickly Thursday.

As always, the safety and welfare of students and Beacon personnel is our highest priority.

Consequently, the Critical Response Team will continue to monitor this situation to determine possible impacts to campus and class operations and the community safety and will provide any updates should circumstances change or developments arise.
