SONY DSC Mr. and Mrs. Stan Leonard, residents of The Villages for about six years, generously donated an electric GEM golf cart to Beacon College for use in transporting students and visitors around campus. They officially turned the keys of the vehicle over to the College last month.

The Leonards are the owners of Leonard Truck & Trailer in North Jackson, Ohio, which has been in business over 50 years. The couple had a GEM golf cart that they wanted to donate somewhere it would get good use. The Leonards were advised that Beacon College was in need of a vehicle to transport students. The Leonards were impressed with the mission of the College and decided to visit campus to find out more about the plans for the golf cart. Peg Leonard says, “We wanted to donate to an organization that will utilize the golf cart for a good purpose, and we thought Beacon was a good fit.”

The golf cart will be used primarily by the offices of Admissions and Campus Safety for the purpose of providing transportation to students and visitors. As the golf cart is street legal, and the city of Leesburg has recently approved the use of golf carts on city streets, this generous donation came at an ideal time. Bob Bridgeman, Executive Vice President of Beacon College, speaking for the entire Beacon community in thanking the Leonard family, noted, “This donation will offer us new opportunities to serve our students.”
