About Dr. Vilma Ramirez
Dr. Vilma Ramirez joined Beacon College in 2018 and serves as a Business and Technology faculty member and program coordinator, where she teaches Computer Information Systems (CIS) courses. With a strong commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive academic environment, her focus is on creating meaningful interactions with students and tailoring instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. She teaches a broad range of undergraduate CIS courses, from entry-level to advanced, including topics such as Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Commerce, Introduction to Robotics, Database Management, Systems Analysis and Design, Business Applications, Management Information Systems, and Cloud Computing.
Ramirez also has a passion for STEM education, having worked as a STEM instructor for middle school students, where she introduced engineering principles and led competitive robotics teams to success at local, regional, and national levels. Before transitioning to academia, Ramirez gained extensive experience in the technology sector, including roles as a senior information systems technologist, business analyst, and IT project leader, where she managed large-scale business application solutions and enterprise systems.
Her combination of industry experience and teaching expertise allows her to provide students with real-world insights and practical skills that prepare them for careers in technology and business.
