As many of you know, President Hagerty appointed a task force to examine the impact of COVID-19 on Beacon College and develop recommendations for operating effectively and safely when re-opening the campus this fall.  Accordingly, we have developed the following policy which is informed by recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American College Health Association, Sodexo, and the best practices of colleges and universities around the country.

Beacon employees should familiarize themselves with these now essential habits and practices as outlined in the attached document.

We thank in advance all employees returning to campus June 1 for your compliance as we work towards keeping our community safe and well (while also preparing for a safe and successful campus return for our students in the months ahead).

Communications

COVID-19 communications will be sent through email, posted on the Beacon College website, and updated frequently on the digital signage located around the campus.

Students and Beacon personnel will be notified of any college closures related to COVID-19 by text message via E2Campus, the emergency notification system, and also through email. Please monitor your email regularly for updates.

Daily Check-ins

Before coming to campus, you must consider the following key questions. A “yes” to any of these questions requires that you communicate with your supervisor before coming to work. If you answer “no” to all questions, you should communicate to your supervisor when you arrive on campus that you are “clear” and present that day.

Screening Questions:

  1. Have you had any symptoms of illness (i.e., cough, shortness of breath, fever, etc.) in the past 14 days?
  2. Has anyone in your immediate household had any symptoms of illness in the past 14 days?
  3. Have you traveled anywhere outside of Florida in the past 14 days?
  4. Have you been in contact with anyone suspected, or confirmed, as having COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  5. Has anyone in your immediate household been in contact with anyone suspected, or confirmed, as having COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

Visitors on Campus

Anyone who is not employed by Beacon College is considered a visitor.

All visitors must check-in at Beacon Hall and obtain a visitor’s pass, answer the five health-related screening questions, and submit to a touchless temperature check before going elsewhere on campus. Employees should direct visitors without a pass to Beacon Hall.

Employees are expected to wear masks when interacting with any visitors on campus.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Masks should be worn anytime the employee is not working alone in his or her personal office space.

Beacon College provides in limited quantities masks and other PPE materials.  Employees can email Tracey McCoy directly to request that Facilities’ staff furnish PPE materials that include:

Employees are also encouraged to bring in their preferred masks to meet the COVID-19 requirements.
