Beacon College Communication Director Darryl E. Owens chronicles in the Orlando Sentinel and OrlandoSentinel.com Beacon’s new COMPASS program and the experience that Gavin Palmer, Beacon’s director of student experience, had with six Saudi students who partook this past summer. He writes:
At Beacon College in Leesburg, the first higher-education institution to award bachelor’s degrees exclusively to students with learning disabilities and ADHD, we understand how difference leads to wrongheaded stereotypes.
So, it was only natural that the inaugural class in Beacon’s Compass Program brought together this confluence of difference. As America stands light years ahead of many countries in managing learning differences, Compass aimed to educate Saudi students both about America and how daily to manage their challenges.
