SheQuia Williams Perseverance has helped boot up the start of a promising future for senior computer information systems major SheQuia Williams.

Williams had applied last year for the Beacon College’s coveted DELL Technologies summer internship, but a spot for her wasn’t in the (keypunch) cards.

The college’s Dell internships are uber-competitive. After all, Dell Technologies affords talented recruits incredible opportunities. The American multinational information technology titan employs 140,000 workers worldwide and ranks in the top 50 on the Fortune 500 roster of largest United States corporations.

Not only that, the pay isn’t anything to sneeze at: the 2021 interns could expect to earn $21 an hour, or $10,000 for the 12-week internship. Plus, students also receive lodging, plus roundtrip travel expenses from Florida to Texas.

Rather than mope over missing out, Williams treasured the valuable experience she gained in the interview process and determined to leverage that valuable experience in pursuing her goal in the next summer internship cycle — one unexpectedly complicated by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Not only that, but Williams had real-world experience to bring to the table: over eight year, she honed her customer service skills in six jobs in the U.S. and abroad.

And this time, competing with a dozen classmates, Williams broke through, and earned the lone slot as the college’s 2021 Dell Technologies summer intern. Her 480-hour internship runs from May 24 through August 13. Her job: helping customers with their inquiries, while reviewing knowledge-based articles to get up to speed to better assist her team.

For Williams, who graduates this month, thanks to her patience, preparation, and determination, her stint with Dell promises to compute into a bright future.
