On Friday, September 19th The Peer Tutoring Program sponsored a pizza party Mix & Mingle at the Center for Student Success. The purpose of the party was for students to meet and spend time with the tutors and TAs in a relaxed, fun setting.
For a rainy late Friday afternoon, the turnout was outstanding and it was standing room only in the Center for Student Success at about 4:30 pm! New and returning students enjoyed a delicious assortment of cookies and snacks (donated by Learning Specialist Kim Paul), pizza, soda, music, conversation and raffle prizes. Those also in attendance included the Learning Specialists/Academic Advisors as well as Dr. Shelly Chandler. The tutors were honored and delighted that President Hagerty made a special guest appearance and joined them for their group picture!
According to Lead Tutor Michelle Underwood, “The Pizza Mix & Mingle brought together a lot of old and new faces to the Center for Student Success. We were so happy to welcome and see so many first year students at our event!” This provided a great opportunity for students interested in the program to meet with all the Peer Tutors in a casual environment and interact with them individually and as a group.
Tutors Peyton Forster and Mel Fronczak selected five lucky raffle tickets, and the winners were excited to win prizes (ITunes and restaurant gift cards).
