About Dr. AJ Marsden

Dr. AJ Marsden is an associate professor of psychology and human services at Beacon College. She has a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Missouri St. Louis. Her areas of study are in industrial/organizational psychology. Marsden has presented her research at various conferences and is regularly quoted in the media.

She specializes in human development, motivation, emotion and attitudes, abnormal psychology, including PTSD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and eating disorders, human sexuality and health psychology.

She has been quoted by Good Housekeeping, The Huffington Post, The Atlantic, Psychology Today, The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Associated Press, Voice of America, Fortune.com, The Atlanta Constitution & Journal, U.S. News & World Report.com, Reader’s Digest, Fast Company.com, Men’s Fitness, Glamour.com, Shape, Telemundo.com, Prevention.com, and many more. Additionally, Marsden has served as a psychological coach for professional mixed martial arts athletes. She also has 10+ years of martial arts experience and has been an active weight lifter and yoga enthusiast.
