What Gorillas Can Teach Us
Dawn Prince-Hughes holds a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary anthropology and has studied gorilla (and other apes’) cultures. Through personal experience juxtaposed with academic study, she’s become an expert in autism spectrum disorders. She has published extensively including the national best seller Songs of the Gorilla Nation. She has been associated with the Jane Goodall Institute, ApeNet, and other animal welfare groups. She was nominated for a MacArthur Fellowship in 2012. Formerly an adjunct professor in the Department of Anthropology at Western Washington University, Dawn now dedicates herself to writing full-time and lecturing. She lives on her animal sanctuary in Makanda, Illinois.
