Position overview:
Beacon Ambassadors are exemplary students, committed to academic excellence and active members of the College community. Beacon Ambassadors help educate visitors about campus life, history, traditions and achievements of the college through supporting campus tours, high school recruitment events, and various functions and events.
Primary functions:
- Participate in all Beacon Ambassador training workshops
- Lead campus tours
- Support on-campus events
- Perform administrative tasks for mailings and outreach tasks
- Participate in local recruitment events, including high school visits and fairs
Responsibilities and duties:
Tours
- Conduct campus tours for prospective, new, and transfer students
- Conduct post-tour outreach
- Evaluate tours based on prospective student experience
Open Houses
- Conduct campus tours for Open House families
- Participate on a student panel
- Answer questions regarding academic support and student life
- Attend lunch with prospective students and families
- Conduct pre-and-post outreach for all visitors
Local College Fairs and High School Visits
- Attend local college fairs with admissions staff
- Participate in presentations with support of admissions staff
- Educate college fair participants about Beacon College
- Collect data and leads of college fair attendees
Virtual Discovery Days and Marketing
- Participate in occasional marketing videos
- Highlight your Beacon experience though live and virtual presentations
Office/Clerical Work
- Support administrative tasks within the admissions office including packet generation and mailings.
Requirements:
- Have completed a minimum of 24 units at Beacon College prior to employment
- Possess a minimum GPA of 3.2 for each semester employed
- Actively participate in at least one club on campus
- MUST have outstanding attendance with Learning Specialist
- Must be familiar with all academic support offered at the college, including assistive technology available to all students
- Be able to work with a diverse population of students who have varied needs for assistance
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills
- Have an outgoing, positive attitude, with a willingness to play a key role in student support
- Demonstrate initiative, dependability, and reliability
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Have a knowledge of the campus and its various resources
- Exhibit proficiency in working with computer
- Demonstrate the ability to follow through and complete tasks as assigned
- Ability to facilitate discussions related to topics on academic support and student life
- Ability to demonstrate understanding and empathy when dealing with complex and sensitive issues
