Job Description
The Teaching Assistant will support an undergraduate humanities course that examines fairy tales across cultures and time periods. The class explores the earliest global fairy‑tale traditions, analyzes how these stories shape cultural and political values, and studies their evolution through classic texts, Disney adaptations, and modern fantasy franchises such as Star Wars.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the instructor with grading assignments, quizzes, and written analyses.
- Help manage course materials, learning modules, and announcements on the LMS.
- Provide constructive feedback to students on writing and critical‑thinking assignments.
- Support in‑class activities, discussions, and small‑group work as needed.
- Hold weekly office hours to offer academic assistance and answer student questions.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with students and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong writing, critical‑reading, and communication skills.
- Interest in folklore, fairy tales, literature, cultural studies, or media studies.
- Experience with tutoring, peer mentoring, or academic support is a plus.
- Reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ideal for students who enjoy analyzing stories, culture, and adaptations—from Grimm to Disney to modern fantasy universes.
