Summary:
The IT and AV Support Specialist provides support for desktop computers and audio-visual technology. The role will support staff and faculty by investigating and troubleshooting desktop computing hardware and software problems. The role maintains and supports Beacon’s audio-visual systems found in classrooms and special purpose locations. The position also provisions, configures, and deploys new computers and supports the procurement process. The successful candidate works as a member of the Information Technology Services team to provide an excellent customer service experience for all our clients. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication abilities, be organized, and demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills.
Duties:
- Support staff and faculty with computer and telecommunication issues including hardware, software, and peripherals. Support includes deploying new technology and troubleshooting hardware/software problems.
- Support staff and faculty in the operation of audiovisual equipment in classrooms and other spaces. Support includes troubleshooting audio-visual issues as they arise, and training users how to operate the AV equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with work orders in the ticket management system and respond to users in a timely manner. Log relevant information and escalate emergency situations as needed.
- Assist with setup of new PCs including imaging and deployment of workstations.
- Provide onsite audio-visual support during Beacon events such as guest speakers, presentations, ceremonies, and other special activities requiring multimedia assistance.
- Maintain and manage computers in the Student Computer Lab, including keeping systems up to date with antivirus and software updates.
- Troubleshoot and maintain printers and copiers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.

- Have a thorough working knowledge of desktop computers, Windows operating systems, and the Microsoft suite of office productivity software.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
- Technical knowledge from an earned degree in computer technology, audio-visual technology, or a related field and two-years experience; or five-years experience preforming this role or a similar role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CompTIA A+ certification is preferred.
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business writing, professional journals, and technical manuals, applying the knowledge gained to solve problems.
- Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedure manuals.

Other Qualifications:
The IT and AV Support Specialist must be available for emergencies and occasional evening and weekend work.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to reach for files, and to set up equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. This job requires close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment in this position is typical of a normal office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
