Beacon College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our faculty as an Instructor/Assistant Professor of English.

The Opportunity:
Beacon College is seeking qualified candidates with demonstrated academic skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high quality programs and services for our collegians. This position is full-time, ten-month position – with compensation distributed, if desired, over a twelve-month period. We are looking for a caring and compassionate professional interested in becoming a part of our small, stable, and distinct campus community. Over the past five years, Beacon College has enjoyed significant programmatic and enrollment growth, as well as increasing national recognition as a competitive, liberal-arts based undergraduate institution, now ranked 5th for Social Mobility and 3rd overall in US News’ Regional Colleges – South category (2024).

Rank and Salary:
A full-time, teaching load of 5/5; rank and salary commensurate with experience

Start Date:
August 2024

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in English, or a related field with 18 hours in English required; a Ph.D. is preferred. The department seeks a faculty with experience teaching first-year composition courses, rhetoric and literature courses. Dedicated hands-on instructor who is willing to work one-on-one and in group classroom setting needed. High patience level required.

Experience working with students with learning disabilities and ADHD preferred.

Instructor will be teaching General Education requirements which could include college composition, Writing Across the Community, rhetoric, literature courses, or accelerated literacy.
