Humanities Faculty

The Humanities department is searching to hire an Instructor or Assistant Professor of English with the teaching load consisting of 15 credit hours per semester, composed mostly of general education coursework but with the opportunity to offer electives on a regular basis.

Beacon College is seeking an experienced full time faculty member to teach English and Literature in its Humanities Department starting in August 2025. This position calls for a candidate with a robust background in teaching general education composition courses at the undergraduate level coupled with a commitment to innovation in curriculum development. The Position:
The Humanities department aims to hire an Instructor or Assistant Professor of English. The teaching load consists of 15 credit hours per semester, composed mostly of general education coursework but with the opportunity to offer electives on a regular basis. A May term and several college preparatory summer programs provide opportunities to teach classes for additional renumeration. Faculty members are expected to collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and teaching methods, engage in professional development activities to stay updated with the latest educational practices, contribute to the college by actively participating in college service activities and help determine and assess student learning outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in English, or a related field with 18 hours in English required (instructor); a PhD conferred by August 1, 2025 (assistant professor)
Minimum 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior teaching experience in college composition, literature, and writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with a neurodiverse student population
Demonstrated ability to develop coursework reflective of student’s interests and career goals
Background in composition studies, literacy studies, or rhetoric
Demonstrated application of Universal Design for Learning framework to curriculum development
