The Animals in Agriculture TA will be knowledgeable with basic farm animal husbandry, contemporary practices, and quality of life debates surrounding ranching.

Position Overview:
The qualifying candidate will be knowledgeable with basic farm animal husbandry, contemporary practices, and quality of life debates surrounding ranching. The candidate will also be familiar with theories guiding modern practices in diet choices and the impact of the agriculture industry. Knowledge of theory will be examined as it pertains to farm animal welfare, the rise of animal sanctuaries, and the various agricultural industries practiced today (dairy, beef, wool, poultry, etc.).
Primary Functions:
The TA will help regulate and orient the classroom at the direction of the instructor, will be called to, at times, aid in assessment of students within the classroom setting, and will play an active role in project guidance. The TA will assist in the moderation of classroom debates around topics such as dietary preferences, animal welfare, and other topics. The TA will assist on guided field trips with in-situ assignments.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- TA must attend each session of lecture and lab as outlined on the course syllabus, unless excused by the instructor. If they cannot, they should advise the instructor.
- TA is expected to set a schedule and be available within reason to help tutor and/or provide group study sessions for students working on lecture and lab assignments outside of class.
- TA may be needed to set up the classroom or lab for the instructor at times.
Requirements:
TA must complete Animals in Agriculture with a B average. Student must be a declared Anthrozoology major.
