Beacon College Approved for Florida’s Step Up Family Empowerment Scholarships

Beacon College has been approved as a state vendor for Florida’s Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA), allowing eligible families to apply scholarship funds toward three of the college’s pre-college readiness programs: Summer for Success, Beacon Foundations, and College Edge.

The FES-UA enables families to personalize the education of their students by directing funds to where they’re needed most. Scholarship dollars can be used for a variety of approved expenses including therapists, specialists, curriculum, private school, a college savings accounts and more.

College Edge

“For students who learn differently, these unique college readiness programs take on ever greater importance. Now, families can utilize the Family Empowerment Scholarships to ensure their students are prepared with the skills and confidence to enter college and not only succeed academically but also thrive as independent young adults,” said Dale Herold, Beacon’s senior vice president for enrollment management and auxiliary program initiatives.

To use the scholarship at Beacon, Florida families must apply through the Step Up for Students program. In 2025, approximately 112,000 students applied for FES-UA scholarships, which helped students with special needs customize their educational experience.
