How did you come to work with students who learn differently?
My first experience working with students who learn differently was serving as a tutor through UMass Boston’s Disability Services from 1995-1997. My primary role was to help with time management, note taking, and study skills, along with providing strategies for writing and revising course papers. In addition, I acted as an advocate for students by meeting with professors to promote ways they could support students in the classroom. This was a very rewarding job, and it provided an essential foundation for how I have approached teaching throughout my career.
Hobbies/passions
In my free time I enjoy spending time walking or hiking, listening to music, and writing.
