Ways to Help Support Beacon
There are many ways in which one can make a charitable contribution to Beacon College. Whether it is an outright gift of cash, remembering the College in your estate, or alumni supporting the annual fund, this page will guide you through your gift giving opportunities. If you would like to discuss these ways to give, or wish to receive information on planned or income producing giving options, please contact the Beacon College Office of Institutional Advancement at 352-638-9704 for assistance.
- Monetary Donations
The easiest way to support Beacon College is to give a monetary donation. Your gift can be used by the College immediately to fulfill current needs.
- Securities and Mutual Funds
Giving appreciated stock is a popular way of minimizing tax consequences for investments that have grown over the years. The combination of income tax savings and the avoidance of capital gains tax makes a gift of appreciated stock a compelling option.
Another increasingly popular way to give to Beacon College, while potentially saving on taxes, is to donate shares of mutual funds. For more information, please consult your personal financial advisor.
- Matching Gifts
Many companies match philanthropic gifts to educational institutions from their employees, retirees, and family members. Matching gifts can double or even triple your gift to Beacon College. To initiate a matching gift, obtain the appropriate form from your employer. Complete the form and send it with your donation to the Office of Institutional Advancement.
- Gifts in Kind
Beacon College accepts gifts in kind that are appropriate to its mission. The United States Tax Code encourages individuals to donate real or personal property to non-profit institutions like Beacon College. Gifts in kind may include, but are not limited to, artwork and antiques, current technological equipment, books, and real estate. Such gifts may be used for auction during our annual gala.
Outright gifts of appreciated real property such as a personal residence, vacation home, or other real estate such as real estate mutual funds not only help the College, but also offer tax advantages to the donor. You receive philanthropic credit and a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property as determined by a qualified appraisal.
- Planned Gifts
A long term planned gift can be accomplished in a number of ways, including making gifts in memory or in honor of individuals, donating life insurance you no longer need, or donating charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, and bequests.
Pledges enable a donor to plan a personal giving program that is both convenient and “tax wise.” Gifts to Beacon can be pledged over a period of 3-5 years.
