Director of Life Coaching


Beacon College is currently recruiting for a Director of Life Coaching, reporting to the Dean of Student Success.

Responsibilities: Comprehensive management, development and oversight of the Life Coaching
function of the institution. Life Coaching works directly with students, individually and in groups, to enhance their executive functioning, and to help them to develop and pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals. The Director works with all Beacon College constituencies to guide students toward social and emotional intelligence, and to implement and maintain programs that develop practical, independent living skills. The Director, in conjunction with the Dean, develops and implements long-range objectives, goals, and plans for the Life-Coaching function, providing a unified vision consistent with the College’s mission.

Qualifications: Requires at least a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Psychology or a related discipline or a background in Occupational Therapy. Previous direct experience advising students with learning differences is highly desirable. The position requires strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a diverse student community. Requires analytical ability in working with individual students and the ability to professionally handle sensitive and confidential data and situations.

Receptionist for Beacon Hall


Beacon College is currently recruiting for a Receptionist for Beacon Hall, reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities of this position include greeting of visitors to Beacon Hall, the main administration building of Beacon College, receiving and distributing all Beacon College mail, including student mail, metering College mail, answering and directing incoming calls, reserving meeting rooms and maintaining the calendar for College meetings and events, and distributing pay stubs to employees. The Receptionist provides assistance to visitors, directing them to various College personnel and campus locations, as well as the Leesburg/Lake County area. The Receptionist will also work with Admissions in regards to campus tours by contacting that area when prospective students/families arrive.

Qualifications: The position of Receptionist for Beacon Hall is a full-time position that requires multi-tasking and problem solving abilities, as well as an outgoing and friendly personality. A high school degree is required and additional training is preferred. Prior customer service, receptionist, and/or administrative assistant experience are necessary. Excellent communication, organizational, and word processing skills are needed. An understanding of office technology including phone systems, faxes, mail meters, computers and the utilization of a variety of office software is a definite advantage.

Admissions Counselor


Responsibilities: The Admissions Counselor works with prospective students seeking admission to the College and manages an assigned prospective student base, reviews admissions documents and files, counsels students and families on matters of admission, financial aid, residence, student life, academics, and transition to college. Activities include managing a recruitment territory and traveling to college fairs, school visits, and conferences, assisting with Admissions Team special events (e.g. Open House, New Student Orientation, etc.) and communicating the Beacon College mission to high school guidance counselors, educational consultants, and educational professionals. Additional responsibilities include extensive travel, public presentations, telephone counseling, interviewing prospective students, and handling other projects as assigned for the Office of Admissions. The Admissions Counselor is a full-time, 12-month position.

Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of direct experience within a higher education Admissions office. Must be mission-focused, team oriented, and motivated in fostering and supporting the success of others; must be someone who cares about and is motivated by the success of students with specific learning disabilities and ADHD. Interactions with a variety of constituents require outstanding customer service, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Should be a team player, as well as a positive role model in working with students/families and in representing Beacon College. Must be comfortable with heavy phone and e-mail outreach and skilled with technology. The ability to travel overnight and to work evening and weekend hours is necessary, along with a valid Driver’s License.

Director Of Student Experience

Beacon College is currently recruiting for a Director of Student Experience, reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities: The Director of Student Experience is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, supervision, and assessment of a wide variety of Student Affairs activities including: co-curricular programming, advising the Student Government Association, directing the Student Campus Activities Board, implementing a community service program, advising/supervising all recognized clubs and organizations, participating in overall student affairs policy development, and assisting with the planning and implementation of Orientation and Commencement. The Director exercises full supervisory authority over student workers, including all training, and is responsible for proposing and administering the department’s operating budgets. The Director plans trips and other excursions for students and is expected to develop new initiatives (i.e., spring weekend, alternative spring break),regularly negotiating performance contracts with a variety of outside entertainment agencies and vendors related to student activities. The Director is responsible for developing an activities calendar and promoting student activities to the College community to increase participation. Collaborates in providing housing support, such as providing on-call support one week per month.

Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Student Development or a related field and direct experience within a higher education Student Affairs office, must be current in best practices in higher education student activities programs, including relevant research, operating policies, programming, and legal/liability issues. Requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills along with organizational skills. Should be a dynamic team player and a positive role model in working with students and in representing Beacon College. Must be willing to spend time with residents in weekly and monthly programming and work some non-traditional hours providing support to students living on campus.

PT Library Media Technical Assistant


Beacon College is currently recruiting for a part-time (20 Hours per week) Library Media Technical Assistant to provide library services during evening and weekend hours, reporting to the Director of Library Resources.

Responsibilities: The Library Media Technical Assistant will perform first point of contact duties in greeting faculty, staff, students, and the general public and will: assist faculty and students in locating needed information via the OPAC and library databases; supervise work-study students and the library in general during evening and weekend hours; create Libguides to support the College curriculum; provide basic technological support to copiers, printers, scanners, Mac and PC computers in the library; assist students with computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, WordQ, and Dragon Speak; promptly shelf or re-shelf books and other materials; check shelves to be sure books are in proper order; check library materials in and out; perform opening and closing procedures for the library on evenings and weekends.

Qualifications: High school diploma, college degree preferred. Previous library experience is a significant advantage. Sound understanding of library technology and previously described software. Requires a customer service orientation plus strong organizational and communication skills.

Financial Aid Counselor

Beacon is currently recruiting for a Financial Aid Counselor, reporting to the Financial Aid Director. The Financial Aid Counselor will work with students and families to ensure the prompt, efficient, and effective delivery of services to Beacon students and/or parents seeking information about the financial aid process. The Counselor is responsible for maintenance of student financial aid files, coordination of all communication with assigned caseloads, coordinates the Federal/State Work Study Programs, and represents the department at recruitment and other events. The FA Counselor must be committed to confidential first class customer service to Beacon’s students and families.

Qualifications: Associates degree (Bachelors preferred) in Business, Education, or a related field plus 2-3 years customer service experience, preferably in a college Financial Aid office. Requires excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to prioritize workload. Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be flexible in dealing with shifting priorities and be willing to work some non-traditional hours.
