Beacon College hosted its first Open House of 2014 on Saturday, February 8th . Open Houses start at 12 p.m. in the Student Center. This Open House was the first event that our new Dean of Admissions, (Dale Herold), was participating in, and there were some additions to the program. Though it was a rainy day, there was a great turnout and spirits were high!
While inside, numerous questions were asked about the College and what could be expected through various stages of the process, from applying for admission to figuring out financial aid options. Our amazing faculty/staff and student panels answered them all. For the first time ever, the Open House featured a student panel to answer questions from prospective students about their experiences at Beacon College. This way, prospective students and their families were able to learn about the Beacon experience from the perspectives of both employees and current students.
Once all the questions were answered, the families broke into two groups for their tours. They were able to see critical components of the campus, including the PC and Mac labs, the library, the math lab, and the writing center. Interactive sessions were held in the math lab and writing center, and student workers introduced the PC and Mac labs and explained the courses that are required in the CIS major. Many families, who hailed from different parts of the country, were very impressed by what they experienced.
Towards the end of Open House, everyone gathered in Center for Student Success building for the conclusion of the day. Drinks and sweets were served while families were having interviews and filling out applications with our Admission Counselors. We are proud to say that we had a total of 8 applicants who applied to Beacon College after enjoying the tours around campus!
If you missed this Open House, we have one more opportunity for the spring. Join us on March 29th for the final event of the spring: http://www.beaconcollege.edu/open-house-rsvp/
