Managing Stress with Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists assist with activities that make up a person’s daily life. We identify stressors in life, such as with work, to improve the management of stress. Stress management techniques can help students become more alert and better focused to handle stressful situations as they arise.

Signs and symptoms of stress include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Muscle tension: a stiff neck would be a good example
  • Anxious feelings
  • Boredom
  • Headaches
  • Weight gain or loss

Reducing stress in everyday life is beneficial for health. Stress management improves health by improving the body’s ability to fight diseases and to promote productivity within the day.

  • Exercise
  • Yoga
  • Massage
  • Study Breaks
  • Art
  • Baking
  • Guided Imagery

Stress management is important for everyday functioning for all students and faculty. Healthy stress management leads to a healthier you.
