Dictionary Day 2011

On Friday, October 14th, we celebrated Dictionary Day in the Writing Center! Using provided dictionaries, students, faculty, and staff were invited to share a favorite, unusual, or difficult word on our Writing Center scroll.

 Here are some words that were shared:

Courage: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty– Carl Casimir

Empathy: being able to assure another’s perspective and being caring, compassionate, and concerned– Dr. Chandler

Adamant: unshakable or insistent, especially in maintaining a position or opinion- Bill Baldwin

Honesty: fairness and straightforwardness of conduct; adherence to the facts; sincerity- Mr. Miceli

Love: affection and tenderness felt by lovers, affection based on admiration– Vanessa De Andrade
